Just sometimes in a relationship, don’t you think that perhaps your partner isn’t on the same wavelength as yourself? Do you sometimes start daydreaming when your partner goes on and on and on…
Mr Scawby Proudfoot has been bored with his wife and indeed by life in general for as long as he can remember. Everything is a hassle to him and all he wants is to be left alone to his thoughts.
Mrs Sandra Proudfoot lives on a permanent knife-edge of confused perceptions. Whatever she is thinking tends to leak out of her mouth, so her conversation is more like a train of thought than actual conversation that requires an answer from her husband.
Fairly simple to perform, but because there’s barely any movement in this piece, the drama has to come from the charactisation and facial expressions.
The set could be simplified, but there is scope for a fairly elaborate scene of a cluttered sitting room.
